Purpose of JobWe are seeking a hardworking and talented Risk and
Compliance Analyst.
Hybrid schedules available for our Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX and San
Antonio, TX offices.
Positioned as the first line of defense to ensure that management
programs, risk analytics, and business operations are all running
efficiently. To support risk and compliance-based initiatives, this
person will partner and collaborate with Compliance and Risk
Management, as well as Business Operations, IT, Audit Services, and
Regulators. Minimize risk exposures and reinforce the overall
control environment, ensure adherence to the governance of the
established risk framework and ongoing supervision controls
testing, including risk and control self-assessments,
identification, and evaluation of control effectiveness,
identifying control failures, facilitating remediation, market
conduct exams, and monitoring. Identifies critical data-driven
insights connected to the business by using risk assessment
data.
This role will partner and collaborate with the Compliance and
Risk, as well as the Information Technology (IT) and Chief
Financial Office (CFO) department to perform control testing to
formally evaluate the risk and control environment.
This role will be directly accountable for a variety of activities
related to risks and controls for the Chief Financial Office (CFO)
Department. Specific responsibilities are as follows:
---Build control test scripts/instructions, failure conditions
---Document completeness and accuracy
---Lead/Summarize independent walk-throughs
---Performing formal control testing of new and existing
controls
---Identifying control failures
---Proactively identify gaps in the system of record
---Maintain system of record
---Identification and evaluation of control effectiveness
---Facilitating risk and compliance remediation

Responsibilities:
- Handles and drives solutions for stronger controls on behalf of
the business, and in support of risk and/or regulatory compliance
related initiatives which may include oversight of
procedures/process, accurate regulatory reporting and filing,
document governance, risk control self-assessments, procedure
governance, control design, or new product controls, supplier
governance, or quality governance.
- Performs ongoing supervision and oversight of business controls
and shares knowledge with team members to evaluate the
effectiveness of established business controls.
- Serves as a Subject Matter Authority in one or more key areas
e.g., Governance, Risk, and Compliance data (GRC) data.
- Holds responsible for data analysis, report preparation and
trend analysis, applying business intelligence tools.
- Anticipates business needs and proactively finds opportunities
to improve and strengthen the control environment through practical
insights.
- Provides recommendations in the execution of Risk Control
Self-Assessments (RCSA's), translates control deficiencies into
action plans and provides recommendations to improve governance
practices in alignment with risk and compliance frameworks.
- Partners with customers to drive improvement efforts to correct
or prevent unfavorable trends and assess the impacts.
- Facilitates, manages, and leads projects involving
cross-functional areas.
- Leads project team through concept, planning, execution, and
implementation phases for effective and timely risk
remediation.
- Counsels senior management on the status of their control
environment related to risk identification and control weaknesses.
Identifies critical areas to lead all aspects of and advance issues
and findings to appropriate partners.
- Establishes and maintains processes, procedures, and tools for
handling exception alerts as they occur, including monitoring and
management of resulting exception cases. Ensures adherence and
compliance with regulations and controls by examining and accurate
documentation.
- Primary resource to less knowledgeable team members and/or
cross functional team members and consults on risk mitigation
opportunities. Stays informed of changes to the regulatory
environment to ensure accurate compliance with processes and
requirements are followed.Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree: 4 additional years of related experience
beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a
degree.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience supporting risk and/or
compliance related activities in a financial services operating
environment or other relevant industry OR 6 years' experience in a
relevant quantitative field OR advanced degree or designation in a
risk management or quantitative field, and 4 years' experience
supporting risk and/or compliance related activities OR PhD in a
risk management or quantitative field, and 2 years of experience
supporting risk and/or compliance related activities.Preferred
Experience:
- Solid understanding in business application controls and
ITGC's.
- Technical designation such as CISA, CISSP, CIA, or
similar.
- 4+ years' experience with audit or internal control
testing.
- SOX Testing/ Public Company experience.
- Master's Degree
- Knowledge of COSO, understanding of Sarbanes Oxley 404 and
PCAOB Standards.
- Broad knowledge of risk, audit, controls (specifically
financial controls; organizational, Application and IT General
Controls), compliance and fraud.Compensation:USAA has an effective
process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure
we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based
on your experience and market position. The salary range for this
position is: $88,200.00-144,500.00.Employees may be eligible for
pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual
performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of
Directors.*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential
is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in
locations where market pay levels are above the national
average.Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for
applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core
