Position Overview
The Employee Relations Specialist will conduct investigations of
moderately complex employee relations issues and will present
corrective action recommendations to field leadership, as
applicable. The Employee Relations Specialist is expected to be an
advisor to the business to ensure consistent accountability and
compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts low to moderate level employee relations
investigations on a variety of matters, including but not limited
to violation of policy or procedure, perceived unfair treatment,
and unlawful workplace activity.
- Assists Campus Directors with investigations of discrimination
and harassment complaints.
- Reviews timecards and coordinates remediation of timecard
issues, as necessary following timekeeping investigation
- Documents employee relations issues and investigations in
designated case management system (to come)
- Produce weekly investigation updates to Employee Relations
Director
- Supports new business integrations (acquisitions) to ensure
newly acquired Employees complete required onboarding
processes.
- Represents people function on M&A project calls to ensure
collection of necessary workforce data.
- Provides consultation, guidance, corrective action and coaching
solutions to Campus Directors and business leaders to resolve
employee relations issues fairly and consistently across the
organization.
- Reviews corrective actions for hourly employees, following the
standardized corrective action approach.
- Assists Employee Relations Director with maintenance of leader
corrective action tools and resources, including the addition of
corrective action templates for new policies and procedures.
- AssistsEmployee Relations Directorin creation and maintenance
of investigation resources, such as the Investigation Protocol
Guide, Workplace Violence Guide, Criminal Activity guide and
Timeclocking investigation resources.
- Reviews and documents religious accommodation requests and
guides leaders through an interactive process.
- Gather data from various sources (including but not limited to
the case management system, People Direct calls, ethics hotline
reports, corrective action submissions, and exit interviews) and
creates quarterly reporting of employee relations issues and
trends.
- Administers the Ethics Hotline case management tool and assigns
ethics cases according to complexity level. Documents case
resolutions in the system.
- AssistsEmployee Relations Directorwith semi-annual review of
People Guide and departmental policy guides and collaborates with
designated policy owners to update policies, as needed.
- Works across organizational boundaries to drive consistency,
frequently collaborating and aligning with Field leadership, Risk,
Fleet, Legal, Health and Safety and Security teams.
- SupportsEmployee Relations Directorwith other special projects,
as needed
Attributes/Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years of Human Resources, Employee
Relations experience preferred
- Physical requirements are inclusive, but not limited to, the
following:
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Ability to communicate orally (via phone) and written (via
computer or other electronic means)
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English
- Ability to adapt work schedule to support investigations in
other time zones (i.e. Mountain, Central), as needed
