The Research Engineer will be responsible for technology and new product design and development activities for HVAC&R systems with a focus on product innovation. Will have to perform, lead and coordinate activities related to system and component modeling, simulation, design, prototyping, testing and analysis from concept through various stages of technology readiness levels. Initial focus will be on supporting development of Rheem's proprietary HVAC&R systems modeling software.

This position will serve our Air Division, located in Lewisville, TX. This position can be partially or fully remote/work-from-home, but the employee must be based in the Lewisville, TX area, per Rheem's Remote Working Policy.

What You'll Do
Conduct necessary background research, modeling, analysis and testing of various design options in support of new technology development and new product development projects.
Actively engage with vendors of various components and sub-systems in order to successfully develop new technology, components and product through active collaboration, specification, review, testing, evaluation, and analysis.
Develop HVAC&R component and system models for Rheem system modeling tools.
Design and conduct experiments as necessary to validate and refine component and system models
Collaborate with cross functional teams and internal customers to gather requirements and provide updates/reports for assigned projects
Acquire in-depth knowledge of Rheem's and competitive products and keep abreast of industry activities and product and technology trends.
Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Job Qualifications

What You Need
Ph.D. in Mechanical, Chemical, Energy or Aerospace Engineering with specialization in Thermo-Fluids and/or Energy Engineering
At least 2 years engineering experience specific to application of fluid flow and heat and mass transfer analysis to highly engineered products.
Demonstrated proficiency in application of thermo-fluid modeling, analysis, design and development of HVAC&R products and systems and working fluids.
Must be hands on and have experience in working in a lab in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability in working in product development teams
Demonstrated proficiency with data analysis including statistical and uncertainty analysis.
Demonstrated ability in designing experiments, interpreting experimental data, conducting analysis, drawing conclusions, and preparing summary reports.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, standards and governmental regulations.
Demonstrated proficiency with commercial modeling and simulation software including Engineering Equation Solver and Modelica.
Project management skills and knowledge.
Knowledge of new product and technology development processes.
