Responsive Education Solutions - Director of ELAR Grades 3-8 Position Summery:The Director of ELAR Grades 3-8 will be responsible for the development and implementation of coherent ELAR instructional programs from third through eighth grade aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), the Texas English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and post-secondary college and career readiness standards. The Director will actively facilitate and support the development, implementation, review, and revision of the district's ELAR curricula, instructional strategies, and assessments for grades 3-8. Additionally, the Director will provide leadership, technical assistance, and support for all ResponsiveEd ELAR programs and initiatives. The Director will serve as the liaison to develop and deliver effective professional learning that assists teachers and administrators in developing the skills, tools, and techniques to support students reading and writing growth at or above grade level.Equipment Used:Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.)Intermediate: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/TypingGoogle suite of applicationsVideo conferencing technologyPhysical / Environmental Factors:Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move doors, in a controlled environment, exposed to weather elements when transporting to and from building and car, and exposed to dust from books.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. (Masters perferred)Texas Administrator Certification (preferred)ESL Certification (preferred)SPED and/or GT Certification (preferred)Reading Academy Certification (preferred)Valid State of Texas Teaching CertificationExperience:5+ years teaching experience3-5+ years instructional or educational leadership experience3+ years related management experience (preferred)3+ years experience providing adult professional development (preferred)Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of research-based best practices in teaching writing, grammar, and literature (reading, writing, and analysis).Knowledge of effective strategies related to cognitive academic language acquisition among ESL and bilingual -depth knowledge of 3-8 grade ELAR TEKS and working knowledge of vertical K-12 TEKS alignment.Develop and edit TEKS aligned ELAR curriculum and teacher aids for grades 3-8.Exemplary oral, written, and presentation communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and district-level staff to accomplish goals.Ability to effectively write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals.Ability to effectively teach, present information, and respond to questions from groups of administrators, teachers, and department leaders.Analyze student performance data and develop plans to meet identified student needs.Act as a support to the Superintendent and members of the Academic Division for the selection, adoption, budgeting, and evaluation of instructional materials for literacy (textbooks, software, and instructional technology) to ensure alignment with state standards, district curriculum, and comprehensive district vision for cooperation with the Division of Academics, develop and execute the delivery of professional learning for teachers, specialists, and administrators.Monitor the quality and implementation of the literacy program activities and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.Collaborate with the Departments of Special Education, ESL/Bilingual Services, Advanced Academics, Career and Technical Education, and MTSS Coordinator to ensure alignment and high quality instruction, materials, and professional learning for all teachers of these populations of students.Develop and maintain strong and positive working relationships with colleagues across the district, specifically with elementary and middle school leadership.Provide regular updates of program activities and services to appropriate audiences.Develop and implement plans for the evaluation of literacy and writing programs.Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and trends related to literacy.Collaborate with all members of the instructional content team.Ability to travel to campuses and demonstrate effective instructional strategies in the classroom as needed.Have understanding of state adopted K-12 anize ELAR curriculum within ELAR warehouse bin and coordinate with the curriculum department on various ordering/inventory needs.Perform all other related duties as assigned.
