Patient Safety Coordinator RN assists the Risk Manager and Patient
Safety Director with operational oversight of the Patient Safety
and Risk Management program. Supports the promotion a patient
safety culture; emphasizing risk reduction while analyzing trends
of events to determine process improvements to ensure alignment of
patient safety and high reliability strategies. Assists in the
evaluation of near misses, investigation of occurrence reports,
clinical surveillance and regulatory/legislative standards.. In
addition, assists in the Risk Manager and Patient Safety Director
educate, evaluate, monitor, and/or the elimination of professional
and general liability exposures. Collects, analyzes and evaluates
data to develop recommendations for improvement of clinical risk
management programs. Collaborates with the Risk Manager and Patient
Safety Director in completion of CSIP.
Education/ExperienceBaccalaureate degree in healthcare-related
field,A minimum of 2-3 years of progressive health care experience
in an acute care facility or 1-2 years' experience in clinical risk
management. Licensure/Certification RequiredCurrent RN license in
the State of Texas or compact license Knowledge, Skills, and
AbilitiesBroad knowledge and familiarity with healthcare-related
regulatory requirements. Ability to work independently and
interdependently. Ability to shift attention between multiple
activities and competing demands, and to manipulate the order of
tasks by importance.Knowledge of PC based computer software, i.e.
Microsoft Office. Demonstrates effective communication,
organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to deliver
verbal and written information in a clear, concise manner to ensure
comprehension and achieve desired resultsAbility to demonstrate
sensitivity to the needs and concerns of others and to treat others
with the utmost respect, dignity, courtesy, and
confidentiality.Works Well With Others: Ability to interface
directly with public, physicians, staff, patients, administration
and ancillary/support department representatives to achieve optimal
outcomes and high quality, patient-centered care.Ability to take
personal responsibility for job action and performance, comprehend
and perform job responsibilities, and adhere to the policies and
