- Emergency Department experience with managing a wide range of

Communicates with physicians, social work, and other department
staff to promote integrated, effective care. Serves as patient
advocate, follows up on patient care issues and outcomes,
oversees/arranges discharge support. Documents and supervises
unit/patient information including charts, surveys, reports,
research, correspondence, statistics, and quarterly reports to
ensure efficient, accurate data.Selects, trains, supervises,
motivates, and evaluates assigned staff. Assesses patient needs and

as Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Environmental and Linen Services.

Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work processes and

Responsible for space planning, including renovations, capital
repairs and acquisitions. Ensures informed use of department
resources through clear policies including equipment, supplies,
personnel hiring/training practices and service
utilization.Develops and administers the annual budget (capital,
operating and payroll) to ensure that the unit has the necessary
funds to carry out established goals and objectives. Monitors
charges and supplies, initiates orders, requisitions and supervises
capital improvements.Develops, implements, and evaluates unit
annual goals and personal goals consistent with Parkland and
Department mission and goals.Serves on multidisciplinary and
Departmental committees as selected and assigned.Trauma Managers
Responsible for management of the
Trauma Nurse Clinicians regarding their performance, the Trauma
Systems performance, and overall trauma outcomes. Selects, trains,
motivates, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff to ensure
maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities, while
providing optimal service to both internal and external customers.
Monitors staffing levels, adjusts schedules, and completes Time and
Attendance sheets. Ensures that Trauma staff maintain knowledge and
competencies, arranging for appropriate professional development
activities. Educates PHHS staff through inservice presentations and
lectures at least six times a year. Educates assigned staff
regarding Nursing Administration procedures, trauma protocols, and
other issues that impact Trauma Center designation and trauma
funding.Coordinates and assists with the day to day activities of
the Trauma staff, serving as primary system resource to coordinate,
facilitate and enhance the service levels for all admitted trauma
patients.Anticipates patient and system needs, defines
complications, coordinates care to expedite hospital discharge, and
ensures optimal care and utilization of PHHS resources. Ensures
that trauma patients are evaluated daily, and that appropriate
measures are initiated and properly documented.Responsible for
patient identification/family notification, and all trauma
documentation, trauma registry data extraction, injury description,
injury scoring, and completion of surveillance forms to ensure
effective operations. Completes insurance and "crime victim"
referral forms as needed.Communicates system needs to the trauma
service product line managers, attending physicians, residents,
support services staff, patients/family, and the external patient
support services. Provides follow-up for transferring facilities.
Provides management, system, and clinical back-up response for the
Trauma program. Maintains positive working relationship with
management, Trauma faculty, other hospitals and PHHS employees to
ensure effective communication and cooperative working
relationships.Assists in research, community injury prevention
programs, trauma outreach activities, and provides disaster
coverage with the team to ensure efficient, effective
operations.Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work
processes and flow for the Trauma Services Department and suggests
or implements appropriate changes to improve work effectiveness,
productivity and efficiency that support the overall goals of PHHS
and the department. Assists staff with identification, follow-up
and documentation of all Trauma Performance Improvement Process
issues. Presents improvement issues, completes
weekly/monthly/quarterly reports, and reviews/critiques
resuscitation videos daily. Analyzes and trends patient
complications and other information to ensure continuous
performance improvement.Maintains knowledge of applicable rules,
regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Trauma
Department. Develops effective internal controls that promote
adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program
requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and
private health plans. Guarantees that regulatory guidelines are in
place to ensure JCAHO accreditation and Trauma Center designation.
Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper
understanding.Stays abreast of the latest developments,
advancements and trends in the field of Trauma Management by
attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and
actively participating in professional organizations such as the
Society of Trauma Nursing and Texas Trauma Coordinators forum.
Maintains Texas RN license and certification for CCRN, CEN, ACLS,
ATCN, and TNCC. Maintains instructor licensure in TNCC and ATCN.
Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.Attends
multidisciplinary rounds and departmental/institutional committees,
the Trauma Performance Improvement meeting, and Trauma conference
meetings. Ensures attendance at Multidisciplinary Conferences.
Conducts regular management meetings and team meetings with staff
to ensure communication and coordination of services. Maintains all
minutes and human resources documentation as needed.Assists in
developing and monitoring the annual budget in the areas of
salaries, materials and supplies, educational and paid time off to
ensure that the department has the necessary funds to carry out
established goals and objectives.Develops, implements, monitors,
and revises annual goals and objectives for the Trauma department
