At the initiative of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Legal and Development Officer, and Global Business Unit Presidents, and in accordance with corporate directives, is responsible for implementing a comprehensive internal and external business development plan to increase revenues and profits. Participates with key stakeholders and decision makers in the key markets worldwide to generate and maximize business opportunities through inbound or outbound licensing or M&A transactions and activities.   • Participates with company officials in developing and implementing a strategic marketing plan and coordinating opportunities for business units worldwide.
  • Develop a competitive analysis and research of the marketplace to provide business advice to the business units.--
  • Monitor external and internal environment for business trends and development of attractive new market segments.
  • Regularly communicates market conditions, strategies and plans to the management teams in a supportive and/or consultative role.
  • Leads by example in practicing exceptional performance management skills, including but not limited to hiring, developing, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Provides leadership to ensure a work culture that maximizes employee talents, promotes a high performance work environment, and demonstrates consistent performance management, mentoring, coaching, and career development practices.
  • Provides the leadership to promote Orthofix or partner products and services that will achieve success in new markets, increase market share, and obtain a competitive position in the industry in a manner which provides the maximum possible return of investments for Orthofix resources.
  • Confers with President and Corporate Officers in reviewing market conditions, business achievements and challenges and discussing required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
  • Provides leadership in the planning and development of the company image and its relations with customers, employees, stockholders, partners, and the public.
  • Leads by example in consistently achieving optimal results and exhibiting an exceptional high level of commitment, initiative and integrity in all business decisions and actions.

    • Emotional MaturityEducation and/or Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related or related technical field is required, MBA is strongly preferred. Must have successful strategic, transactional and tactical experience within the orthopedic or similar medical device sector. Previous work experience must demonstrate significant achievements in project planning, business development transactions, meeting and exceeding sales and revenue objectives including but not limited to increased market share, new product development, new market opportunities, and expanded distribution channels. Must demonstrate leadership skills consistent with the organization's expectations. Ten (10) years of experience, with five (5) years experience in M&A.Medical Device experience preferred but not required. Language/Mathematical Skills:Language Skills Required -
      • The ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, legal agreements, procedures, periodicals and professional/clinical journals.
      • The ability to develop and write procedures, reports and correspondence relating to a broad range of functional activities.
      • The ability to appropriately communicate and negotiate with external parties in international and sensitive environments, including surgeons.
      • The ability to understand and explain complex issues to a diverse population.
      • Ability to make effective, professional, and persuasive presentations on complex or controversial topics to a diverse internal or external population.Mathematical Skills Required -
        • Must be able to quickly apply the complex financial and math concepts to complex situations and models (including negotiations).
        • Ability to review summary figures, identify trends and analyze impact relative to areas of responsibility.
        • Must have knowledge in preparation, interpretation, and management of the budgetary process.Decision Making/Problem Solving Skills:The position requires the ability to independently solve complex business development opportunities and deal with a variety of variables while developing promotional and business development strategies, projects and programs, procedures and processes. Must be able to define problems, collect necessary information, establish facts, conduct appropriate diligence as needed, draw conclusions and take appropriate action. Employee is empowered to make decisions directly affecting their ability to perform the above duties and responsibilities, and regularly communicate with all affected internal parties.Reasoning/Analytical Skills:Demonstrates critical thinking in their ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret a variety of complex precedents and statutes is also critical. Ability to analyze both legal and business situations and extract critical elements for decision making process, present them as alternatives with associated risks and describe the recommended solution from a business standpoint. Must be able to develop processes and procedures as well as identify when the processes and procedures do not apply in a specific situation and handle exceptions as needed. Normal sight or corrected vision is required to read documents and use standard computer terminals.Work Environment: Employee will work in private office area with a minimal noise level.
